Redeem me from all my distress!

Publication date Apr 6, 2025

We’ve spent this week praying, repenting, worshipping, and lamenting with Psalm 25. Did you enjoy it? I’d love to know!

Psalm 25 ends with this verse:

“Redeem Israel, God, From all his distress.”Psalm 25:22

A true intercessory prayer. In the midst of all his troubles, David cries out to God to redeem Israel. We, too, are called to pray, not just for our own troubles but also for our nation, society and government (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

Today, this prayer for Israel is even more relevant than ever, as the Bible teaches us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (the capital city of Israel) (Psalm 122:6).

Sometimes, the best thing to do when you feel overwhelmed with your own troubles is to pray big prayers, such as prayers for others or an entire country.

However, David’s prayer wasn’t completely altruistic. After all, He was the king of Israel, so God saving Israel from all its distress would make his job as King significantly easier.😅

As I mentioned at the start of this week, Psalm 25 has been my theme for this year. Jenny and I started reading it together every night, and I pray it over my family daily.

friend, I encourage you to do the same.

I add the name of our family in the final verse so it reads “Deliver the Mendes family, O God, from all our distress!” You can do the same and I will pray it with you: “Deliver   friend, O God, from all their distress!”

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
