How precious are Your thoughts about me – Psalms 139:17

One of the biggest challenges parents face—especially those with young children—is dividing their attention between their kids and other things that need to be done, such as work and house chores.
Unfortunately, as parents, we cannot divide ourselves into two (or ten), which can lead to us being preoccupied when our kids need our attention. It’s unavoidable. When kids grow up with one or both parents who are consistently too busy, distracted, or unavailable, it can leave an unintended but lasting message: “You are not important enough” or “You are not worth my time.”
Do you ever battle with thoughts like “my problem is not big enough for God”, or “I should be praying for important things, not just sharing my feelings”, or “Other people’s needs are more important than mine?” Take a moment to reflect on your childhood. Did you perhaps have a pre-occupied father?
I have great news for you. Your Heavenly Father is NEVER too preoccupied to attend to you. Not even your smallest problem goes by Him unnoticed. He sees you. He hears you. He cares deeply—even about the things you think are too small to matter.
You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are Your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! – Psalms 139:16-17
Even if your parents were attentive, their love—even at its best—pales in comparison to the ever-present love of God.
friend, if a preoccupied father left a mark on your life, you’re not alone. Acknowledge it, forgive your earthly dad and go on to step boldly into the loving arms of your Heavenly Father.
