Salvation starts and ends with Jesus
I love doing DIY projects around the house to make the place look better. It gives me joy when I can build or fix stuff without help. For example, I know how to paint walls and furniture, apply wallpaper, and even drill holes in walls to hang stuff.
But I definitely know my limits. When electrical work or plumbing is required, I call an expert. 👨🏻‍🔧
One of the biggest obstacles to salvation is self-sufficiency. Many of us don’t think we need help. We believe our “good” will be good enough.
But Scripture is clear:
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. – Acts 4:12 NIV
That’s exclusive. Not popular—but true.
We can’t save ourselves through good behaviour, moral effort, or religious activity. We can’t fix what’s broken inside us. If we could, Jesus wouldn’t have needed to come to save us!
I can speak from personal experience. I’ve tried to fix myself before. I’ve made promises. I’ve set spiritual goals. I’ve created checklists. And I’ve failed, and in that failure came a lesson: Salvation doesn’t start with me, and it doesn’t end with me.
It starts and ends with Jesus. He is the expert, and He fixes what is broken, every single time.
That’s humbling—and freeing.

Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I’ve tried to save myself. I surrender my self-sufficiency. Thank You that my hope rests in You alone. Teach me to depend on You every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
