Have you had breakfast with Jesus today?

Publication date Jun 27, 2026

How have you been enjoying the journey of discovering Jesus in the Old Testament? Has it helped you to understand those stories better? Have you been amazed by how Jesus has been present and prophesied through the centuries? I’d love to know!

Today, I’d like to look at what may be the first time Jesus is foreshadowed in the Old Testament. In the Garden of Eden, to be precise.

Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. – Genesis 2:8-9 NIV

“Where is Jesus in this passage?” You might wonder. Well, as usual, He’s at the centre.😉

The Tree of Life represents Jesus. The tree that stands for health, abundance and connection with God. If you eat from it, you will live forever.

When Adam and Eve sinned, by eating from the forbidden tree in the garden–the tree of the knowledge of good and evil–they lost access to the Tree of Life (Genesis 3).

But that access was restored for us when Jesus came to the earth and said that to have eternal life, we must eat and drink of Him (John 6:53-54). Jesus is not just the Tree of Life, He IS the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6).

We have access to the most nourishing, life-giving, and sustaining food by simply feeding ourselves with the Bread of Life, that is, Jesus (John 6:35).

Have you had “breakfast” today?

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
