Come near to God and He will come near to you.

Cameron and I have certain code words and phrases we use. For example, if we’re out with friends and one of us is ready to leave, we have a special phrase to signal the other. We love being able to communicate without anyone else knowing—it’s like a secret language, and it’s a great relationship tool!
In many ways, prayer is like that!
Of course, it’s good to pray out loud—whether with family, in church, or when praying for others. But when done privately, prayer is a tool in your relationship with God.
“When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” – Matthew 6:6
If you ask a relationship counsellor or any married couple, they’ll tell you the most important part of any relationship is communication.
And that’s what prayer is: communication between you and God. It is one of the most effective ways to build your relationship with Him.
You cannot draw any closer to God than when you pray to Him.
Come near to God and He will come near to you. – James 4:8
God loves hearing your voice. It reminds me of one of my favourite scenes in the movie The Shack, where Mack, the main character, asks God:
“You already know everything I am gonna say before I even say it, right?”
And God replies:
“Yes, but I choose to listen to everything you have to say as if it were for the first time”
Take time today to pray to God in secret, by yourself, in a closed room or a private space. The bathroom or car, for example, are excellent prayer spots!
Allow God to draw near to you as you draw near to Him in prayer.
