Feelings directed to God are prayers

Yesterday, we talked about what it feels like to hit rock bottom. Today, I want to leave you with a prayer you can come back to any time you find yourself in that place.
It’s based on the desperate and honest prayer Jonah prayed from inside the belly of the fish (Jonah 2).
Prayers aren’t always polished and perfect; sometimes they can be messy, raw or emotional, and that’s ok. As long as you direct those feelings to God, they’re still prayers and He is waiting to hear them!
I hope this particular prayer helps you to be honest with God when you need it.
Heavenly Father,I am calling out to you in pain and distress.I am calling for help because I feel more dead than alive.I know you hear my cry.
It feels like You have allowed pain, suffering, evil and calamity to take over.It feels like I am drowning in sorrows and fear.
I feel abandoned by You as though You don’t see my pain. But I trust that You see me,That Your eyes are on me.
It feels like I’m sinking, and there is no end to itIt feels like my life is over.
I am calling out to You,I know You can save me because You have done it before
Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness,Thank You that You are good and that You never let go of me.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Maybe this prayer isn’t for you today, perhaps you’re in a good place and you don’t need to vent, great! Thank God for it.
But if this prayer resonated with you, if you feel stuck at rock bottom with no way up, please know you are not alone!
