Those who entwine their hearts with YAHWEH will experience divine strength
My absolute favourite verse about waiting on the Lord is from Isaiah 40:31 . It’s filled with hope and promise. It says:
“But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
The Bible was not originally written in English, and sometimes the words used in the original texts have multiple meanings. This verse was written in Hebrew, and the word for “wait” here is “qava”, which also means to look for, to gather and to become intertwined.
Isaiah does not speak of passive waiting. It speaks of actively drawing closer to God, of becoming entwined with Him.
In The Passion Translation the verse reads:
“But those who entwine their hearts with YAHWEH will experience divine strength.”
This is not the kind of waiting that comes to an end, like waiting at the doctor’s office until it is your turn. It is developing a lifestyle of lifelong waiting on the Lord.
Like a tree that grows slowly, over a long time, whose roots grow deeper and more intertwined, that is the way in which God wants to be intertwined in our lives. So much so that we cannot be separated from Him anymore but become one with Him John 17:20-21.
friend, the more you actively wait on the Lord, the deeper your roots grow, and the more you will be intertwined with God.
When you wait upon the Lord, you become:
“like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in seasonand whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” – Psalms 1:3
Let’s pray together: “Heavenly Father, thank You for Your amazing promises when we wait on You. Help us to draw closer to You each day. We desire nothing more than to become intertwined with You.”
