His plans for your life will unfold along the way

Publication date Sep 15, 2025

I like knowing what is expected of me. When someone asks me to do something, I prefer getting clear instructions and a solid explanation beforehand. It just makes the task so much easier, right?

Unfortunately, I have found that God rarely reveals His entire plan up front when He calls us. Nor do His callings come with detailed instructions or clear expectations.

Why? Because He wants us to remain dependent on Him. Every step of the way. He invites us into a journey of trust, where we continually seek His guidance as we go.

That kind of walk requires faith—a lot of it. We’re called to follow, even before we see the whole picture.

But here's the danger: we can get stuck. Frozen. Afraid to move forward because we don’t want to get it wrong. We wait and wait for a clear, complete plan… but that day may never come.

Yes, sometimes God does give a clear, extraordinary calling. Think, for example, of Moses (Exodus 3), David (1 Samuel 16), Mary (Luke 1:26-38) and Jonah (Jonah 1).

Jonah’s story is especially interesting. Not only did God give Jonah a very clear mission, but when Jonah ran away from his calling, God intervened dramatically—hello, big fish!—and called him again (Jonah 1 and 2).

All of this to say, that if God wants to call you for a very specific purpose, trust that He knows how to get your attention. He won’t let you miss it, and He might even make sure you can’t refuse, just like Jonah.

But for most of us, Christian life looks more like this: Move forward. Trust. Listen. Adjust. Repeat.

I love how our friend Ps. Mark Varughese from Kingdomcity puts it:

Ready. Fire!…before aiming? That’s irresponsible advice if you’re holding a weapon, but it is often the reality when following God on the journey of faith.

Are you ready to move into action and trust that He will guide your steps?

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
