Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.

Have you ever found yourself at a crossroads in life, trying to figure out which way God is leading you? Perhaps when you had to pick what to study, whom to marry or whether or not to pursue a particular career path?

When we’re faced with such big decisions, we must take time to seek God’s guidance and hear His voice.

But let’s be honest, it can be incredibly hard to be objective when discerning what God is saying.

For example, if you’re head over heels in love with someone, you may not be open to hearing God say to move on or even to wait. Or if your dream job comes along, you might think you heard it wrong if God’s voice gently urges you to pass up the opportunity.

In such cases, God may choose to speak through other believers, and it is wise to seek their counsel.

Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.Proverbs 15:22 NIV

When Cameron and I had to decide on a significant move in our lives, we asked four people whom we considered friends, as well as spiritual leaders in our lives, to pray and seek God for us. We told them we had a big decision to make, but did not tell them what it was.

After a week, we planned meetings with each of them, and all four had received a similar word from God for us. Isn’t that amazing?!

It also aligned with what we already felt, and it was such a confirmation that we were making the right decision.

Do you have people who can speak into your life on God’s behalf? Believers who are spiritually mature and can hear God’s voice without bias or a desire to influence your decisions?

If not, ask God today to bring such counsellors into your life.

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
