Tu hi manzil tu rastah bhi hai
Sometimes people say that the best songs are born out of pain, and that is definitely true for my song Tumsa. You can listen to it here.
In 2012, I faced one of the most challenging years of my life. Personal struggles piled up, relationships I cherished crumbled, and even my own team began to walk away from the ministry. Though I was at the peak of my career as a worship leader, with my songs more popular than ever, I was compelled to step back, shut it all down, and remove myself from the spotlight.I’d never felt so rejected, forsaken and betrayed in my life. I didn’t understand why God allowed these things to happen; after all, I had simply been obedient to His calling. The best pastors in the country counselled me, but even their well-meaning advice couldn’t bring about any change in my circumstances.
It was during that time, when all human support failed, that I learned to fully, completely, and wholeheartedly trust God. My life-verse became:
Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. – Psalms 73:25-26 NIV
From that verse, a song took birth in my heart, saying “Tumsa koi nahin, Tumsa kahin nahin, ab hai pura yakeen, Tumsa koi nahin.”
I knew that Jesus had the answers to all my problems; I was fervently praying for Him to save, redeem and restore me. But He was also my comfort and strength during every step of the painful journey. This realisation became the line “Tu hi manzil tu rastah bhi hai.”
I may not know the season of life you are walking through today, but I do know this: Jesus is right there beside you, every step of the way. (Psalms 16:8).
And truly, there is no one in all creation quite like Him!!
