Remember me according to Your faithfulness – Psalm 25:7

Publication date Apr 2, 2025

As I shared a few days ago, Psalm 25 is the word God put on my heart for the year 2025. You might wonder, “Why didn’t you share this at the start of the year?” That’s a valid question, and I don’t have a strong answer other than maybe if someone had reminded me, I would have shared it earlier.

We all need reminders at times… except God, right? I mean, why would the creator of the universe ever need a reminder from a human?🤔 And yet, David seems to think that He does in today’s passage from Psalm 25:

Remember, Lord, Your compassion and Your faithfulness, For they have been from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth or my wrongdoings; Remember me according to Your faithfulness, For Your goodness’ sake, Lord.”Psalm 25:6-7

David is not actually reminding God of things He may have forgotten; he is pleading with God for mercy. If you’re anything like David, you may carry the weight of regrets—decisions you wish you could undo or moments where you strayed from what was right.

David asks God to see him in the light of God’s goodness and faithfulness, not in the light of his mistakes.

He asked to be remembered not on the basis of merit but on the basis of mercy.

David’s prayer gives us hope that God does not define us by our past mistakes. Instead, His memory of us is shaped by His unchanging love. When we approach Him in our brokenness with humility, He meets us with forgiveness, guidance, and boundless grace.

friend, I encourage you to pray Psalm 25 over yourself and your family every day this week. What I do is that I add the name of our family in the final verse so it reads “Deliver the Mendes family, O God, from all our distress!” You can do the same and I will pray it with you: “Deliver friend, O God, from all their distress!”

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
