Jesus bled to renew your mind

Publication date Apr 16, 2025

Yesterday,we discovered the symbolic meaning of the crown of thorns. Today, I want to dig a little deeper.

As I was preparing this series and revisiting the events of Jesus’ crucifixion –a story I’ve heard and read many times–a question popped into my head:

“Why did the thorns have to be placed on Jesus’ head?”

The beatings happened all over His body, the flogging was done to His back, and the nails went through His hands and feet. But the thorns were specifically placed on His head, twisted like a crown. Why not make Him step on them? Or carry them?

By now, we’ve seen that nothing leading up to Jesus’ death happened by accident.Every detail was filled with deep, prophetic meaning—and the crown was no exception.

The head is where our mind, thoughts, desires and will lives. Sin often starts in our mind, as does faith.

Our thoughts can keep us captive if we allow them to re-circulate:

  • pain from the past

  • lies of the enemy

  • guilt from sin

Toxic thought patterns get twisted together in our minds, just like the crown of thorns twisted together on Jesus’ head (Matthew 27:27-30)

friend, in a manner of speaking, we all carry a crown of thorns.

The question is: are you ready to give it to Jesus and let Him carry it on your behalf?

Paul teaches that when you start following Jesus, you:

“Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.” – Ephesians 4:22-24

A new mind! Doesn’t that sound amazing? Jesus made it possible for you on the cross. All you have to do is put your trust in Him.

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” Isaiah 26:3

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”II Timothy 1:7

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
