John 3:16 is probably the most well-known verse in the Bible. We highly recommend memorising it:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Let’s unpack this verse a little:
“World” means all of mankind; it includes you!
God’s “One and only Son” is Jesus, who isn’t just God’s child but is God Himself, who came down to earth in human form to die for our sins on the cross. “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form” – Colossians 2:9.
John 3:16 in a personalised form would read as;“For God loved friend so much that He became human and sacrificed Himself, so that friend may believe in Him and have eternal life.
Can you imagine a greater, more sacrificial love than that? The Creator of the universe humbles Himself and dies on the cross so that you can live in a loving relationship with Him for all eternity. That’s how much He loves you!
