But those who hope in the Lord will soar on wings like eagles

Publication date May 3, 2026

As much as I get nervous during take-off and landing when I fly, once the plane is in the air, I love the feeling of soaring at 36,000 feet, looking out the window and seeing the earth pass by beneath me. Even though the plane flies over 500 mph, it feels like it’s just smoothly gliding through the air.

Of course, if you were to exit the plane at such a height, the air pressure alone would kill you. The plane itself is not “gliding” at all; its massive engines are constantly at work to generate enough force to keep such a giant machine in the air. It takes immense power and a huge amount of fuel for a plane to fly.

But inside, it feels like you’re in a comfortable spot, relaxing, watching a movie, eating a meal, pretty much unaware of what it takes for the plane to defy gravity. You’re travelling at lightning speed without putting in any effort yourself.

It reminds me of this verse:

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.Isaiah 40:31 NIV

Life, at times, may seem like a long and tiring journey. But the truth is that it is God’s great power at work in our lives that sustains us. Much like the engines of an airplane, God is at work with incredible force so that we may soar on wings like eagles.

His desire is not for us to struggle through life, wearing ourselves down along the way, but to rest in His presence and allow Him to “fly” us.

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.”Isaiah 30:15 NIV

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
