If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here! – 2 Corinthians 5:17
One thing I noticed when I first moved to India is how often people leave the plastic on things—especially electronics and remote controls. I always found that a bit funny, because for me, the best part of buying something new is unboxing it and peeling all that plastic off.
One day, I asked an Indian friend why it’s so common to keep things wrapped for as long as possible. They smiled and said, “It just feels new longer.” 😅
So, if you share that love for new things, I have good news for you. This week, we’re looking at things God wants to make new. And the best part is that you don’t need to leave the plastic on, because He keeps making them new day by day.

The first thing God want to make new is YOU!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here! – 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
And
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. – Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV
In the coming days, we will cover some different areas God wants to renew in you, but for today, I want you to read again the verses above and think about what it means to be ‘made new.’
Note that it doesn’t say you have to try hard to become new, or earn renewal by doing lots of good deeds.
The steps are simple:
- Be in Christ
- Be made new (by God, not by your own efforts)
- Put on your new self (simply accept it)
It’s as simple as that. What an amazing gift!
