In between dreams and reality
We’re still in those “in-between” days right now. The year is coming to an end, but we have a few more days to go until we start fresh with a new year on January 1st.
Someone who, like us, was waiting for a fresh start is Joseph. He was in prison for a crime he didn’t commit in a foreign land where he had been sold into slavery. You can read Joseph’s story in Genesis 37-39.
When he was younger, everything was going well for him. Joseph was his dad’s favourite son, and he received amazing dreams from God, in which his whole family bowed down to him.
After his life took many unexpected turns, Joseph was caught between his God-given dreams and his harsh reality. He had no idea why all these bad things were happening to him, but we now know that it was all part of God’s plan:
“Then He sent someone to Egypt ahead of them—Joseph, who was sold as a slave. They bruised his feet with fettersand placed his neck in an iron collar.Until the time came to fulfil his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character.” – Psalm 105:17-19
friend God promises that He will use all the trials in your life for your good. They might even be part of an elaborate plan God is putting in place.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28
I encourage you to look back at your life and remember some of the testing times you’ve been through. Do you see anything good that has come out of it now?
Don’t forget to thank God for His faithfulness. 😉
