Make me know Your ways, Lord; Teach me Your paths – Psalm 25:4

Did you read the rest of Psalm 25? Is it just me, or do you also feel this Psalm speaks directly to the heart of 2025? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Let’s dive into verses 3–5 today:
“Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed; Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed. Make me know Your ways, Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; for You, I wait all the day.”
Did you know the word ‘wait’ in verse 3 doesn’t primarily refer to time? It’s derived from the Hebrew word ‘qāvā,’ which means to bind together or entwine. This revelation transforms the verse into something profoundly intimate:
“Indeed, none who binds or entwines themselves with God will be ashamed.”
Isn’t that beautiful? The same word, ‘qāvā,’ is used in several other scriptures in the Bible. One of my personal favourites is Isaiah 40:31:
“But those who wait (qāvā) on the LORD will renew their strength.”
Becoming entwined is not a “quick fix” but a long process. Imagine the roots of a tree; as they grow wider and deeper, they grow more and more entwined. Even if you were to uproot the tree, you couldn’t untangle its roots.
The process of becoming entwined implies intimacy and proximity. It goes hand in hand with the next verse:
“Make me know Your ways, Lord; Teach me Your paths.” – Psalm 25:4
The more we allow God to teach us, the more we become entwined with Him.
This requires a humble heart willing to learn, be led, and trust God’s guidance above all else. Note that David doesn’t ask for his own plans to be blessed but instead seeks God’s ways, God’s truth, and God’s wisdom.
friend, are you willing to become entwined with God as He guides you in His paths?
I encourage you to pray Psalm 25 over yourself and your family every day this week.
What I do is that I add the name of our family in the final verse so it reads “Deliver the Mendes family, O God, from all our distress!” You can do the same and I will pray it with you: “Deliver friend, O God, from all their distress!”
