Over the past two days, we have learned that God wants to commit Himself to us through His promises and that He ALWAYS keeps His word.
Today, I’d like to dwell on how we step into His promises.
First, let’s start with some good news: you cannot earn God’s promises.
There are no “prerequisites” or “access conditions” you have to meet to be worthy. God does not play favourites (Romans 2:11) and does not reject anyone who genuinely seeks Him (Psalms 51:17 and Hebrews 11:6).
However, while we don’t have to earn His promises, there are keys that help us step into them. 1.FaithSarah’s story is an excellent example of faith that led to promises fulfilled:
By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. – Hebrews 11:11
Faith pleases God (Hebrews 11:6) and will help you never lose sight of God’s promises. Faith will allow you to see the reward on the other side of the most difficult circumstances.
2.Patient enduranceUnfortunately, God’s promises usually don’t include a timeline. We need to trust that what He has spoken will come to pass in His perfect time. In the meantime, we must be patient.
And so, after Abraham had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. – Hebrews 6:15
