Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross was enough

Publication date Apr 2, 2026

There’s nothing more satisfying than at the end of a long, hard and daunting task to be able to say, “I’m DONE!” and feel the release.

Jesus, at the end of 12 hours of excruciating pain, torture and humiliation, said “It is finished” (John 19:30). But instead of feeling the release of a job well done, He gave up His spirit and died for our sins.

But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by His wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 NIV

The word Jesus used to say, “It is finished,” is tetelestai, which means “paid in full.”

Not only did He announce that His suffering had finally come to an end, but He knew that it amounted to a sacrifice that was sufficient to settle the debt of our sins.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23

The price that Jesus paid on the cross was enough. He paid in full for all our sins, past, present and future.

The idea that we can lose our salvation if we sin is a lie. It can be tempting to think that by living a holy life, we can ensure a place in heaven. But the reality is that no good deed, no gift, no prayer or sacrifice we make could ever come close to what Jesus did for us on the cross.

When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He declared that He had fulfilled His purpose for coming to the earth. In John 12:46 NIV, Jesus said:

“I have come into the world as a light, so that no-one who believes in me should stay in darkness.”

Allow His light to fill your heart today!

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
