Your tears are more precious to God than gold

Publication date May 8, 2026

How do you feel about crying? Do tears come easily for you, or only in rare moments? For me, it doesn’t take much. An emotional movie or a beautiful worship song can move me to tears in a heartbeat. But I know that isn’t true for everyone.

Some people find it hard to cry and, let’s be honest, especially men struggle to express their emotions. This is even more so when they grow up in a masculine culture like India.

Boys often grow up hearing things like, “Boys don’t cry” or “Real men don’t shed tears.” But even for women, allowing tears can be a challenge.

There were times, especially around Zac’s medical challenges and his passing, where tears were all I had left, because the journey was just so unbearably hard.

At the same time, I would think to myself, “What’s the point? What are my tears going to change?”

Not only have studies in psychology shown that allowing yourself to feel the pain and be sad is much more helpful in the long run than brushing it off or just moving on, but it is also a Biblical principle.

Never does God’s Word say, “Men don’t cry” or “Hide your feelings.”

This is what the Bible says about tears:

You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.Psalms 56:8

In heaven, roads are paved with gold (Revelation 21:21), yet tears are carefully collected in a bottle. What does that tell you?

God doesn’t just see your tears; He cherishes them.

So, whenever you feel the need, allow your tears to flow; they are more precious to God than gold!

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
