God delights in our obedience, whether it’s great assignments or simple tasks

Publication date Feb 11, 2026

I can’t stand it when people tell me “I have a surprise for you!” but then make me wait for the actual surprise.😞 Whenever Jenny does this, I start firing off questions until she cracks and tells me. I guess I just prefer knowing the entire plan, instead of just a snippet. 😅

Honestly, the same is true for my walk with God. I love having a clear picture of where God is leading me and a vision of what’s to come, but I have learned that God doesn’t always work this way.

Yes, sometimes God gives people a big vision with a detailed assignment, like Jonah, who God called to go and bring the entire city of Nineveh to repentance (Jonah 1:1-2) or Moses, who met God at the burning bush and was told that he would bring the people of Israel out of Egypt (Exodus 3:10).

But, I have noticed that these are exceptions, and more commonly God chooses to give us just little snippets of His plan, requiring our simple steps of obedience.

In Acts 12, Peter is visited by an angel who gives him a series of very simple, practical instructions:

‘Quick, get up!’ he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists. Then the angel said to him, ‘Put on your clothes and sandals.’ And Peter did so. ‘Wrap your cloak round you and follow me,’ the angel told him. Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision.Acts 12:7-9

I love how Peter follows each step, without asking any questions and without realising it’s really happening. Peter is obedient, even when he believes it is a vision!

God delights in our obedience, whether He gives us great assignments or simple tasks (1 Samuel 15:22).

What is God asking from you today? Will you obey?

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
