Where, O death, is your sting?

Publication date Apr 5, 2026

I wish you a very happy Easter and a blessed Resurrection Day.🌄

Today we celebrate that Jesus, though He died for us, did not remain dead but rose again and defeated death once and for all.

Death has been swallowed up in victory.Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.1 Corinthians 15:54-57 NIV

Jesus’ death was necessary for our redemption, but His resurrection is the true miracle: it testifies to God’s power, even over death.

For to be sure, He [Christ] was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by God’s power. Likewise, we are weak in Him, yet by God’s power we will live with him in our dealing with you.2 Corinthians 13:4

We too have the privilege to die and be raised again. It is our old, human and sinful nature that we can put to death and receive a new, resurrected life in Christ. We don’t do this literally on a cross like Jesus did, but symbolically, through baptism:

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.Romans 6:4

A few years ago, Jenny and I went to an Easter service where about 100 people were baptised on Resurrection Sunday. As worship was going on, they were baptising one after another, and it was the most powerful way I’ve ever celebrated Jesus’ resurrection.

If you are a believer but have never been baptised, I encourage you, on this Resurrection Sunday, to consider taking that step. What is holding you back?

If you’d like to talk about it, our e-coaches are here to help you!

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
