Want to hear God speak? Read your Bible. Want to hear God speak audibly? Read your Bible out loud! — Justin Peters

Publication date Apr 20, 2026

Hello, can you hear me?” “Hello?” “I can’t hear you!” “Can you hear me now?” “Your voice is breaking!”

Sound familiar? We all know the struggle of a phone call with a bad connection.😫

But to be honest, sometimes that’s what hearing God’s voice feels like to me. As much as I want to hear God speak and pray for His guidance in my life, more often than not, it is hard to discern what God is saying in a specific situation.

If only communication with God were as clear as an uninterrupted phone call with perfect connection, it would be so much easier to live in a close relationship with Him.

Thankfully, God has more ways than one to communicate with us. This week we’ll explore seven ways in which God speaks to us, and the first way–which is always loud and clear–is through His Word, the Bible.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God, may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV

Even if we were never able to hear God speak to us through prayer, dreams, visions, or any other way, God’s word has everything we would ever need to hear from God.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.Hebrews 4:12 NIV

I love this quote:
