Be grateful before God supplies.

Publication date Nov 22, 2025

My wife is an excellent cook, and I love her food.

Early in our marriage, she learned an important lesson: always cook extra. Why? She discovered that the food in our house would get eaten up really fast.

It would happen regularly that she thought a certain dish would suffice for lunch and dinner, but by afternoon, I’d already finished it. I can’t help it, her cooking is just irresistible. 😇

What never happened, though, is that food would be over–or too little was left for a full meal–and she would be grateful for it.😏

In Matthew 14:17-21, we can read how Jesus and His disciples find themselves in a situation where the food at their disposal, five loaves and two fish, was clearly insufficient to feed the 5,000 people in front of them.

Jesus does something surprising:

Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He gave thanks and broke the loaves. – Matthew 14:19 NIV

Jesus gave thanks before He broke the loaves. Before the miraculous multiplication happened. Before God provided.

He trusted His Father, knowing that God would meet their need —and He did. When the disciples distributed the food, there were twelve baskets full of leftovers. There was more left over than there was to begin with!

Take some time today to thank God for the needs in your life He hasn’t met yet.

I want to pray over you from Philippians 4:19-20:

Heavenly Father, thank You that You will meet all needs according to the riches of Your glory in Christ Jesus. To You be glory forever and ever. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
