I have overcome the world.

Publication date Dec 22, 2025

When Jenny was pregnant, I tried to take the best possible care of her.

I encouraged her to take a nap each afternoon, went out of my way to cater to her cravings, and made sure she didn’t do any heavy lifting.

Of course, I always try to care for her well, but when she was pregnant, I kicked it up a notch. After all, she was carrying my son!

To be honest, far be it from me to question God, but putting myself in Mary’s shoes, I can’t help but wonder, why didn’t God make things more comfortable for the woman carrying His Son? 🤔

Mary’s pregnancy was far from easy. First, she had to face the public shame of being pregnant before she was married (Luke 1:31,34-35). Then her fiancé almost left her (Matthew 1:19). While heavily pregnant, she had to make the long and dangerous journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem (Luke 2:4), and when they finally got there, there was no room available for them, so she gave birth, far away from home, and placed her baby in a manger (Luke 2:7).

I can imagine Mary, at times, may have wondered if God had forgotten her.

The same is true for King David, though he was God’s chosen and anointed as King over Israel, he reached a point where he cried out:

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? – Psalms 13:1-2

If the picture I painted of Mary or the words written by King David resonate with you. If you ever feel forgotten by God, don’t lose hope!

I don’t understand why God allows His children to face trials, but I do know this: He has overcome the world (John 16:33)!

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
