She treasured all these things in her heart.

How often do you ponder?

The dictionary defines pondering as:

To think carefully about something, especially for a noticeable length of time.

It is mentioned of Mary, the mother of Jesus, that she pondered and treasured things in her heart:

But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. - Luke 2:19 NIV

And:

But His mother [Mary] treasured all these things in her heart. Luke 2:51 NIV

Mary had not forgotten the amazing promises that were spoken over her son’s life. The angel Gabriel had told her:

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of his father David, and He will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; His kingdom will never end. – Luke 1:32-33 NIV

However, Mary did not go around telling everyone, proclaiming the greatness of her son. She did not broadcast the words she had received. She pondered.

We have somewhat lost the art of pondering and treasuring things in our hearts the way Mary did.

Sometimes I feel like Christians think that faith equals rush. When they receive a dream, or a word from God or faith for a miracle, it must happen now!

But not Mary, she trusted that God would bring to pass what He had spoken through Gabriel. He had even told her:

For no word from God will ever fail.Luke 1:37 NIV

Until that time came, she pondered, and she treasured. She did not try to convince others of her calling; she did not convince the world that great things were about to happen; she did not try to build momentum.

Are there things God has placed on your heart? Dreams? Prophecies? Ask Him, is there something You want me to do now, or do I need to ponder?

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
