Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles
Whenever we travel for concerts, we always need to carry a lot of gear. We know that checking in that amount of equipment for a flight usually creates a problem. We have learned the importance of arriving on time, booking extra baggage allowance and making sure we don’t exceed the weight limit.
However, we often see less experienced travellers struggling with their baggage, pleading with airline staff to allow their overweight bags to be checked in, or frantically repacking suitcases at the airport, with their entire contents on display.
If you’ve travelled, you know that baggage limits are real! And rightly so. There’s only so much weight an airplane can carry. Imagine there were no limits, people would bring so much stuff that a plane would never be able to take off.🤭
Spiritually, the same principle is true. We can weigh our souls down with unforgiveness, fear, or pride, and that weight can turn into a burden that never allows us to rise or grow.
But when we decide to travel light in this world and check our baggage at the foot of the cross, the truth is, we get to fly for free.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. – Hebrews 12:1 NIV
Are you weighed down by spiritual baggage that you carry through your daily life? Or have you decided to travel light? Ask Jesus and cast all your cares upon Him, knowing that He cares for you (Psalms 55:22).
Heavenly Father, give us the wisdom today to hand over all of our baggage to You. Lord, we want to travel light because we know it means we trust You. So God, we cast it all off today and ask that You would allow us to simply fly through the day with grace, hope, and love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
