In between joy and fear

Publication date Dec 26, 2024

How was your Christmas? I hope it was filled with joy, laughter and loved ones. But even if it wasn’t, I’d love to hear from you 😊.

Now that Christmas is behind us, we’re in that odd “in-between” time –all the excitement of Christmas is over, but daily life hasn’t fully resumed because New Year is just around the corner. It’s a weird limbo, right? 🤔

Sometimes, our spiritual lives feel the same – caught in an “in-between” place. So, I figured, what better use of these days than to reflect on four people from the Bible who found themselves “in-between”?

Take the story in Matthew 28, when two women visit Jesus’ tomb and are met by an angel who says, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus… He is not here; He has risen, just as He said” Matthew 28:5-6.

“So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with great joy, and ran to tell His disciples.” – Matthew 28:8

A life with Jesus can leave you afraid yet filled with great joy. It can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. Following Jesus is not for the faint of heart. In Matthew 16:24-25 Jesus says:

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”

That’s a big ask!

friend, if you, like the women at Jesus’ tomb, at times feel overwhelmed or afraid in your walk with Jesus, I encourage you to do the same as they did: run towards Jesus instead of away from Him!

The women hurried away to Galilee because the angel told them Jesus would meet them there (Matthew 28:7-8). While they were on their way, Jesus suddenly met them (Matthew 28:9).

Jesus wants to meet you too, friend, even if there is fear in your heart!

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
