Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
I have to make a confession: I cannot live without Google Maps.🫣
I’ve never been great with navigation or remembering routes, and my sense of direction is an absolute mess (ask Cameron🤪), but ever since Google Maps has entered the scene, it’s become even worse. I would be completely lost (or just always driving in circles) without it.
The Kings (or Magi) who came to visit Jesus after He was born were guided by a very special kind of navigation system: a star. They had seen a new star appear in the sky and decided to follow it (read the story in Matthew 2:1-16).
Guidance is important, especially in our faith journey. Thankfully, we don’t have to trust on Google Maps or a star while navigating our spiritual needs.
So what do we use? Three things:
-
The word of God
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. – Psalms 119:105-106 NIV
-
The Holy SpiritBut when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. – John 16:13 NIV
-
The church (other believers)For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers. – Proverbs 11:14 NIV
Let’s pray together and ask God for His guidance.
Heavenly Father, thank You that we never have to figure out our journey by ourselves, but that You always provide guidance when we need it. I specifically need Your guidance in __________________. Guide me through Your Word, the Holy Spirit and other believers. In Jesus’ name, amen.
