God strategically places friends in our lives

Publication date Dec 16, 2025

In our journey with Zac, we have seen that God’s help and His provision often come to us in the form of other people. Time and again, we noticed that the right doctors, nurses, or caregivers would be assigned to help us at the right time.

We faced some pretty dark and difficult situations while navigating Zac’s health journey, and looking back, it was often through other people that God showed His faithfulness. And we are incredibly grateful for the support we receive along the way.

The same is true for Mary, the mother of Jesus. When she found herself pregnant by the Holy Spirit (read the story in Luke 1), at a young age (Bible scholars and historians estimate she was around 14-16 years old), she stood to lose everything: likely her reputation, probably her fiancé and possibly her life.

But God, in His incredible wisdom, kindness, and faithfulness, didn’t just leave Mary with the powerful and promising words of the angel Gabriel (Luke 1:28-37); He also strategically placed an amazing friend in her life: Elizabeth.

We read that as soon as Mary got the news about her unusual calling, she:

Got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. Luke 1:39-40 NIV

Elizabeth was older than Mary and a mature, wise and God-fearing woman (Luke 1:5-7). She, too, was miraculously pregnant and a few months further along than Mary. She received Mary with open arms and took care of her. She undoubtedly shared her wisdom with Mary, preparing her for what to expect during pregnancy.

We all need Elizabeths in our lives: people who are further along in their faith journey and are willing to come alongside us. They’re often older, though not necessarily, but always wise and welcoming.

Do you have one or more Elizabeths in your life? If not, ask God for it!

And if you need to talk to someone right now, feel free to reply to our email, and someone from our Chamatkar team will be happy to come alongside you for some Elizabeth-like support.

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
