Jesus bled for your deliverance

Publication date Apr 15, 2025

Have you ever been mocked only to be proved right later on?

When I was a kid, my older brother once told me I was “too dumb for education.” (In his defence, we were both pretty mean to each other 😇 don’t worry, we’re on great terms now). It gave me great satisfaction when, a few months later, I could wave my board exam papers in his face, showing that I was in the top three of my class. 😁

After Jesus was flogged, in an attempt to mock Jesus, the Roman soldiers put a red robe and a crown of thorns on His head, ridiculing Him as the “King of the Jews” (Matthew 27:27-30). Little did they know that they were kneeling before the King of Kings.

These thorns were no joke; the soldiers most likely used a date palm to fashion the crown, and its spikes can grow up to twelve inches long.😳 On top of that, Jesus was repeatedly beaten on the head with a stick while wearing the crown. Blood would have been streaming down His face as the thorns dug their way into His skull.

The first mention of thorns in the Bible is in Genesis 3:17-19 where God tells Adam after he and Eve sinned, that the ground will be cursed and produce thorns and thistles (Genesis 3:17-18).

Thorns represent the curse of sin that entered the world in Eden. Jesus was crowned with the curse of sin that first came into the world in the Garden of Eden. Not only was He crowned with it, He broke it!

“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.””Galatians 3:13

friend, let’s pray together:

Lord Jesus, Thank you for breaking the curse of sin once and for all. I receive all that You accomplished for me on the cross, even though I might never be fully able to grasp it. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
