Not even your doubt or despair stops God from fulfilling His promise

Publication date May 31, 2025

Before we continue our series on God's promises, I’d like to ask you a question:

What is your response when you receive a promise from God?

How do you react when you read one of His promises in the Bible? Or when God speaks to you directly—through prayer, a sermon, or even through someone else?

Do you feel joy or apprehension? Faith or doubt?

God’s promises are meant to encourage and strengthen us, yet sometimes, depending on our circumstances, they might trigger a different feeling.

Certain promises may leave us perplexed or even sceptical —especially when our situation seems far too complicated or impossible to change.

I often receive messages from people along the lines of “God has told me He will completely heal your son!” And truly, there’s nothing I’d want more than to see Zac healed. But if I’m being completely honest, upon receiving such promises, my initial response to God is often, “But when Lord? How much longer?”

Sarah had lost all hope of having children. God had promised to give her and her husband a legacy, but days passed, months, and then years. As time slipped away, so did Sarah’s joyful expectation and faith. Then, a day came when God spoke to Abraham again, saying, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son” (Genesis 18:10).

Sarah, overwhelmed and probably filled with desperation, laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” (Genesis 18:12).

And yet, friend, the promise was fulfilled!

One year later, Isaac was born–and did you know that his name means “Laughter” or “He laughs”? Sarah’s not the only one who laughed—Abraham did as well (Genesis 17:17).

Nothing can stop God from fulfilling His promise, not even your doubt or despair. The fulfilment of the promise rests not on you but on Jesus, who did everything so that it could be accomplished!

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
