Has God ever spoken to you through a dream?
Has God ever spoken to you through dreams? Sometimes, I have dreams that stay with me because they seem more significant than my usual dreams, which are simply the products of my imagination.
I have learned that those special dreams are from God, and I ask Him what He desires to speak to me through those dreams.
By no means do I consider myself an expert dream interpreter, but someone who was known as such is Joseph. As a young boy, he received very special dreams from God.
Two of his dreams are recorded in the Bible. Joseph shared them with his brothers:
“We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.” His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said. Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” – Genesis 37:7-9 NIV
Joseph’s first dream was fulfilled chapters later, when he became the governor of Egypt, in charge of selling all the grain, and his brothers came to him, bowing down, hoping he’d sell them some (Genesis 42:5-6).
But Joseph’s second dream is only truly fulfilled in Jesus, who is our bright Morning Star to whom every knee in heaven and on earth shall bow and who is now seated in heaven, at God’s right hand with angels, authorities and powers in submission to Him (Revelation 22:16, Philippians 2:10, 1 Peter 3:22).
We serve a God to whom every knee must bow, and yet the Bible says that we may approach His throne boldly (Hebrews 4:16). What would you like to bring your King today?
