Do you ever feel like what you offer God is too small?
Little James. What a character. And yet, we actually know very little about him from Scripture. He is mentioned a few times (for example in Mark 3:18), but mostly as a name in a list of followers. Some suggest that this is why he is called “Little” James. Not because he is less important, but simply because we know so little about him.
In The Chosen, this nickname transforms from a scholarly distinction into an actual feature. Jordan Walker Ross, who portrays Little James, is shorter than most. This is due to cerebral palsy and scoliosis: conditions that both the actor and the character share.
So, however you may look at it, you might be tempted to call this character “little.”Little in stature.Little in recognition.Little in significance.
But the opposite is true.
Little James stands as a vivid example of humility and loyalty. Though he did not take an obvious leading role, he remained a devoted disciple who played a vital part in the early church. His life reminds us that even a quiet presence can have a profound impact in God’s Kingdom.
Perhaps you are like that. Someone whose influence is not loud, but steady. Someone patient, faithful, and quietly committed.
Then you might be more like Little James than you think. If you have not taken our Character Quiz yet, I warmly invite you to come aboard. Because, as Little James shows us, there is certainly a place with Jesus for people just like you.
