A Saviour has been born to you.
Merry Christmas!!
Today we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!
His birth was announced by angels who said:
I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord. – Luke 2:10-11
Jesus’ arrival was anticipated for thousands of years, through countless prophecies, and His birth was marked by a supernatural sign: a new star appeared in the sky (Matthew 2:1-10).
The long-anticipated Messiah was finally here!
But for His mother, Mary, this was just the start. Yes, she had successfully carried and delivered the Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, but now she had to raise Him, protect Him and take care of Him. After all, Jesus came into the world as a helpless baby.
For us, too, Christmas is just the beginning. Our faith starts with believing that Jesus is God, that He became man and that He was born through a virgin, Mary.
What follows is accepting that we are, indeed, in need of a saviour, and it is completed by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, believing that He died for the forgiveness of our sins.
He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! – Philippians 2:7-8
While the world has turned Christmas into one of the flashiest holidays–with elaborate decorations, loud songs, extravagant gifts and fancy meals–the true meaning of Christmas lies in the fact that it is the ultimate humility. From the most humbling birth to the most humiliating death.
We hope you get to enjoy a beautiful Christmas celebration surrounded by loved ones, but we also pray that in the midst of the festivities, the true meaning of Christmas isn’t lost on you.
Why don’t we take a moment right now to thank Jesus for His birth?
