Do you live like heaven is permanently open for you?

Publication date Jun 8, 2026

Sometimes I look at my life and stand amazed at how it turned out—how God used a simple boy from a small corner of Malad, Mumbai, to write and compose worship songs that would travel around the world.

No one could have predicted what I would become, especially not my forefathers generations ago. After all, I’m just a simple human.

But when we look at the life of Jesus, the Son of God, we see something remarkable: His birth, life on earth, and death on the cross were foretold in more than 400 prophecies—and He fulfilled them all. It’s a powerful reminder that God is far bigger than we can imagine.

Some of these prophecies are incredibly specific, like the place of His birth. Others are more like reflections—occurrences that reveal Jesus. This week, we’ll be exploring some of those reflections together.

Jacob, who is one of Jesus’ ancestors, saw a dream one day:

He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.  – Genesis 28:12 NIV

Jacob could not have known that his dream was about Jesus, but in John 1:51 we read how Jesus explains to Nathaniel that He is the staircase between heaven and earth.

He then added, ‘Very truly I tell you, you will see “heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on” the Son of Man.’John 1:51 NIV

Jesus is the Way to the Father; He is the link between heaven and earth.

Before Jesus’ resurrection, there are several mentions in the Bible of heaven opening up (eg, Jacob’s dream, Ezekiel’s vision (Ezekiel 1:1) and Jesus’ Baptism (Matthew 3:16).

But after Jesus rose again, the Bible doesn’t speak of heaven opening anymore, but we read about an open heaven (Acts 7:56, Acts 10:11). Meaning that since Jesus conquered death, heaven is permanently open!

Jesus is your staircase to an open heaven, just as Jacob saw in his dream.

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
