The Lord is close to the brokenhearted

This is the first Chamatkar I’m writing in a while. As you may be aware, our beautiful son, Zac, passed away recently. The past four years, Zac fought a courageous battle against the effects of the brain damage he suffered when he was 10 months old.
In the end, Zac died peacefully in our arms. Even though we miss him terribly, we rejoice in the truth that Zac is now with Jesus, free from pain and suffering.
In this season, we’re often reminded of Psalm 34:18:The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Over the last four years, there have been many times when our hearts were broken and our spirits crushed. The hopelessness that came with Zac’s condition and having to see him suffer daily made the journey unbearable at times.
But I have found Psalm 34:18 to be true. The Lord is close, even when we don’t feel His presence. Amid hopelessness and despair, He is there!
Jenny and I have spent the last few months on sabbatical to grieve Zac’s passing. I’m sure that journey will continue, but at the same time, we’re also happy to be back at writing Chamatkars for you every day.
Thanks to our wonderful team, who kept the ball rolling in our absence, and the fact that we usually write a few months ahead, you didn't have to miss a single day! 🙌🏽
Tomorrow, we will dive into a new series on Cling & Surrender, but for today, I just want to end by thanking all of you who have stood with us in prayer and support. We loved reading all your messages and are so grateful for this community!
