The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Have you ever seen those classic Bollywood movies like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Chandni, which feature beautiful mountain scenes with green fields and snowy peaks?
Those scenes are all shot in Switzerland, a tiny, beautiful country in Europe. Last year, Cameron and I made a trip to Switzerland, and it was so incredibly beautiful!
As we hiked along some of the most stunning mountain views we had ever seen, we couldn’t help but simply be amazed at the beauty of creation.
It reminds me of Psalms 19:1-4 NIV:
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.Day after day they pour forth speech;night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words;no sound is heard from them.Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
Our God is the creator of the universe. He is the One who created the mountains in all their majesty, the oceans in all their vastness, and the delicate details of a flower.
God loves to speak to us through creation.
Some of my most intimate moments with God, when I could sense His presence very tangibly, were spent in nature.
Of course, most of us don’t have the luxury of mountain views from our homes or hiking paths around the corner. But even taking a moment to observe the birds in the sky or the flowers in your home can create an opportunity for God to remind you of His glory.
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? – Matthew 6:26 NIV
