Do you struggle to trust God's purpose for where you are right now?
I’m so glad you’re here for day 4 of our journey drawing lessons from the Book of Esther.😃
After all the challenges Esther had to face in her early life, God brought her to a place of honour: she became queen.
But little did she know that her biggest trial was yet to come…
Due to his intense hatred toward Mordecai the Jew, Haman–the king’s right-hand man–devised a scheme to have all the Jews in the kingdom killed. He convinced the king to issue a decree that would allow a one-day massacre of all the Jewish people (Esther 3).
Mordecai knew that he could not stay silent, and neither could Esther. He told her:
“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” – Esther 4:14
Mordecai believed that even if Esther didn’t help them, God would send help in another way; that’s how much he trusted in the power of the Lord. He understood that our positions in life are not at all about us, but only about what God could do through us, wherever He has placed us.
Mordecai knew his voice mattered. Esther knew her actions mattered. Putting her own life at risk, Esther used her position as queen to change the king’s mind, and through the wisdom and obedience of Mordecai and Esther, God saved his people.
We, too, can choose to allow God to use us where we’ve been placed. We can choose to stay involved, have a voice, be engaged, and make a difference in our nation and the world.
Let’s pray:
Heavenly Father, like Mordecai and Esther, make me willing to pray, fast, and wait for Your direction and let me be brave enough to act in obedience on the wisdom You provide. In Jesus’ name, amen.
