Jesus’ soul, they could not take or break

Publication date Apr 4, 2026

Today is Holy Saturday, the day between Jesus’ crucifixion and His resurrection. Holy Saturday is traditionally seen as a day of mourning, waiting and quiet reflection.

So let’s reflect together on Jesus’ final words before He died:

Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands I commit my spirit.” When He had said this, he breathed His last.Luke 23:46 NIV

For 12 long hours, Jesus had been handled by many different hands. Hands that had beaten Him. Hands that had pulled out His beard and shoved a crown of thorns onto His head. Hands that had hammered nails through His wrists and feet unto the cross.

But in the end, Jesus didn’t commit His spirit into those hands. He did not surrender to Roman soldiers or Jewish religious leaders. He committed His spirit into God’s hands.

God was ultimately still in control of everything that happened that day, and no matter how much they tortured and abused His body, Jesus’ soul, they could not take or break. It belonged to the Father.

This reminds me of the words Jesus spoke in John 10:27-30 NIV:

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no-one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no-one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”John 10:27-30

Just like Jesus, our spirits are safe and can never be snatched from God's hands. When we choose to believe in Jesus, our spirits belong to Him forever.

God is in control! No matter what you are going through or what you have to face in this life, Jesus faced it too on the cross. In the end, your greatest treasure, your spirit, is safe with Him!

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
