Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.

Let me tell you something about Dutch weddings that, if you’re Indian, will completely blow your mind. We have different categories of guests. The closest friends and relatives are invited to stay for dinner, while others are invited only to the reception… and are then politely expected to leave. 🤯

Usually, a Dutch wedding invite clearly mentions which part of the celebration you are invited to. But sometimes it doesn’t, and then it’s just so awkward to be at a wedding, wondering if the happy couple actually wants you there or if you were supposed to be gone by now.😬

I prefer a clear invitation that indicates exactly how much of my presence is wanted.

And so does Jesus. He, too, prefers to act on our invitation.

While Jesus walked with two of His disciples on the Road to Emmaus, He made it look as if He was going to keep walking, but the disciples insisted and invited Him to stay with them, so He did (Luke 24:28-29).

Jesus didn’t force Himself into their home. He waited until they invited Him in, and then He became a crucial part of their lives.

The same is true for us today. Jesus is never going to force Himself on us. He’s not going to push His way through, bully us or strong-arm us into believing. He wants an invitation into our homes and into our hearts.

Jesus says:

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.Revelation 3:20

If you’d like to invite Him in, pray this prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, I welcome you into my house and into my heart. Would You have Your way in me? Teach me how to open myself up to Your guidance and fill my heart with Your love. Thank you for pursuing me without force and for meeting me where I am at. Amen.

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
