I am God’s workmanship

Publication date Feb 28, 2026

One of my favourite ways to kick off a worship workshop is by asking:“We were made to……??”

And then the crowd usually shouts, “WORSHIP!”

“Wrong!” I reply. Ephesians 2:10 NKJV says:

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

This gets everyone’s attention before I dive into why a lifestyle of worship is so important.

But the reason I start off this way is to emphasise how important the works are, for which God created us.

If our only purpose here on earth were to worship, it would make more sense for God to take us straight to heaven, where we can worship Him wholeheartedly without distractions.

But we’re not made to live in a heaven-like Christian bubble, where we only focus on God and forget the world around us. We are meant to do good works while we’re here.

Which works?” You may ask. Jesus gives the answer in John 14:12 NIV

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Here are some examples of the works Jesus did:

This is not a checklist of requirements before you can call yourself a Christian, but rather a beautiful promise that your life here on earth has purpose, the same purpose that Jesus had.

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
