Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts…
Life rarely presents us with dramatic, one-time decisions that define everything.
Instead, we live in a steady rhythm of small crossroads—moments where we must choose between obedience and independence, trust and control, surrender and self-direction.
Each morning, we wake up and step into a day where God is already speaking. The question is whether we are listening. Obedience is not just about action—it is about posture. It is about aligning our hearts with God’s voice before we align our plans with our own understanding.
Scripture reminds us of the urgency of response:
Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts… – Hebrews 3:15 NIV
That word “today” confronts our tendency to delay, to rationalise, or to wait for a more convenient moment. But obedience delayed is often obedience denied. When we postpone what God is prompting us to do, we subtly shift from trusting Him to trusting ourselves.
I’ve noticed that the longer I linger in disobedience—even in small ways—the easier it becomes to justify it. Over time, my heart can become less responsive, not because God has stopped speaking, but because I have stopped listening with urgency.
This is why daily surrender matters. It keeps our hearts soft and responsive.
Obedience is not a burden—it is a response to a relationship. God is not asking us to obey to earn His love; He invites us to obey because we already have it.
Our obedience becomes an expression of trust, a visible reflection of an invisible relationship.
Today choose to pause, listen, and respond, not out of fear, but out of love.
Let’s pray:
Heavenly Father, help me to recognise Your voice today and respond without delay. Keep my heart soft, my spirit willing, and my mind attentive to Your direction. Teach me to walk in obedience, not out of obligation, but out of love and trust in who You are. In Jesus’ name, amen.
