Your faith has healed you.
We’ve come to the last day of our series, 7 Questions Jesus asked and you should answer.
Today, a question to which the answer seemed clear, almost to the point that it makes you wonder why Jesus would ask a question with such an obvious answer.
As Jesus is leaving Jericho, a blind man, called Bartimaeus, calls out to Him, “Son of David, have mercy” (Mark 10:48). When he is brought to Jesus, He asks him, “What do you want me to do for you?”
It will come as no surprise to anyone that Bartimaeus says, “I want to see” (Mark 10:51). Duh! What else would a blind man want more than his sight back?!🤦🏼♀️
But when you think about it, his answer is actually not as obvious as it seems. For Bartimaeus to ask Jesus to restore his sight, he had to believe that Jesus could perform such a miracle. His answer didn’t just reveal his greatest desire – to be able to see – but also his great faith in Jesus as his healer.
I doubt Bartimaeus ever asked anyone else on the street to restore his sight. He was a beggar; he asked people for money. All anyone else could ever give Bartimaeus was some cash, but not Jesus; He could give him much more, the thing he desired most.
Jesus is asking you the same question, “What do you want me to do for you?” What is it that you most deeply desire? And do you believe Jesus can do it?
