Jesus bled for your cleansing

What is your favourite facial feature? Do you like your nose, smile or eyes? For me, it’s my dimples. I have a full one on my left cheek and a tiny one on the right, and Zac inherited them the same way from me. 🥰
If you asked a Jewish man in Biblical times, he would likely proudly say, “My beard.”
Beards were a symbol of manhood, authority, and social status. They represented strength and virility–distinguishing men from boys.
That’s why ripping out someone’s beard was considered the ultimate insult during punishment (Nehemiah 13:25 and 2 Samuel 10:4).
Men condemned to death by crucifixion always had their beards torn from their faces to cause shame and humiliation.
friend, the third time Jesus bled for you was when His beard was ripped out:
“I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting.” – Isaiah 50:6
Jesus was subjected to the ultimate shame a Jewish man could suffer to cleanse us from our shame.
“How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!” – Hebrews 9:14
When we put our faith in Jesus and receive all that he accomplished for us on the cross, shame no longer has a hold on us!
“Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.” – Romans 10:11
friend, next time you look in the mirror, remember that Jesus bore your shame so that you could stand tall–unashamed and fully loved.
