God knows the flight plan for each one of us
I have a confession…
I estimate that I’ve taken over a hundred flights to date. Both domestic and international, in really big and very small planes, super short and incredibly long flights, over land and across oceans, yet, despite it all, I’m still afraid of flying.🤦🏻♂️
Especially during take-off and landing, I start to feel nervous, and my palms get sweaty. I’ve gotten much better at managing my anxiety over the years, but I still dread it. I’m always super relieved once we’re safely back on the ground.
One of the thoughts that usually comes to my mind while flying is: “I don’t have any idea who is piloting this airplane.”
Think about it. You typically don’t see the pilot when you board a plane, you don’t get his (or her) resume, check their credentials, test their skills or even know their name before you agree to fly with them.
And somehow, we find it completely normal to settle into our seats and let a stranger launch us into the air. The bottom line is, we can’t see the pilots, but we trust them. We trust that they have every intention and the skills to bring us safely to our destination.
In the same way, we’re following a God that we cannot see. We may not know exactly where He’s leading, but we can trust that He has everything under control, and that He knows the flight plan—and the life plan—for each one of us.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Do you ever feel anxious about life in the same way that I feel anxious about flying? Do you ever wonder if the invisible pilot of our life–God–can really be trusted?
It’s normal to feel that way. Ask God today to remind you of His presence in your life and the fact that He is in control.
